Some discoloration of the ironer cloth from light to dark brown is normal. After a couple of years roller covers get hard and do not absorb moisture anymore. Not until the finished results and capacity get worse the roller cover need to be changed.

Before you wrap the roller with a new cover, we advise to add some additional
Steel Wool to make the roller more elastic. If the steel wool padding is completely rusted, we recommend to replace it.
